If you work for a man, in heaven’s name work for him, speak well of him, and stand by the institution he represents. Remember, an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness. If you must growl, condemn, and eternally find fault – resign your position, and when you are outside, damn to your heart’s content – but as long as you are part of the institution, do not condemn it. If you do, the first high wind that comes along will blow you away, and probably you will never know why.

As we step into the Centennial Year of Alpha Phi Omega, it is with great pride and gratitude that we take on our roles as the newly elected officers of the APO Kappa Gamma Alumni Association for 2025–2027. This milestone year is not only a celebration of our fraternity’s rich history and legacy but also a reminder of the enduring values that unite us—leadership, friendship, and service.
Our mission as this new set of officers is to strengthen the bonds that connect our alumni community, foster meaningful opportunities for collaboration and growth, and support our chapter in continuing its tradition of excellence. We are committed to keeping every alumnus informed, engaged, and empowered to contribute to initiatives that advance both our local and international APO family.
As we celebrate 100 years of Alpha Phi Omega, let us honor the legacy of those who came before us by living the principles they instilled and by creating new milestones for future generations of APO Kappa Gamma alumni. Together, we can ensure that our chapter’s spirit remains vibrant, our alumni network strong, and our commitment to service unwavering.
We look forward to your continued support, involvement, and shared pride in all that APO represents. Here’s to an inspiring Centennial year and to the journey ahead!
Our new alumni officers step forward to nurture fellowship, support our members, and inspire active involvement across generations. Their role is to bring ideas to life, ensure transparency in our efforts, and keep KGAA moving forward — together, proud, and always in service.
We’re excited for what lies ahead, and we’d love for every KG brother and sister to be part of the journey. Your ideas, time, and presence — big or small — help keep our alumni community strong and active. Let’s continue building on our shared legacy, supporting one another, and creating meaningful impact together. KGAA is home, and it’s always better when we’re all in it.
Where commitment meets purpose and leadership transformations
Leadership here grows from action, humility, and service. It is the willingness to step forward, uplift others, and stay true to values that shape stronger communities and stronger individuals.
Charter Day
This moment captures the formal recognition of the Kappa Gamma Alumni Association (#420), united with the National Council officers of Alpha Phi Omega. It marks a renewed commitment to uphold the fraternity’s ideals, strengthen connections across generations of members, and continue building meaningful impact in the communities we serve. A proud milestone that reflects both our rich history and the promising path ahead.
In the early days of Alpha Phi Omega, Frank Reed Horton saw how easily young people could lose direction, especially in the most challenging moments of life. From those experiences came his resolve “to help young people get the right start in life by holding up before them a standard of manhood that would withstand the test of time.” Leadership became a cardinal principle of APO — not power, not titles, but leadership with heart, grounded in service and strengthened by friendship.
That same spirit lives on in Kappa Gamma Chapter at UP Visayas. Leadership there isn’t about speeches or recognition — it’s the brother who stays late to fix logistics for an outreach, the sister who guides neophytes with patience, the alumni who quietly support a project because they know it matters. It’s choosing to be useful, not to be seen. It’s asking “how can I help?” long before “what do I get?”
APO has always believed that leadership is done together. Friendship and service are not separate values — they shape how we lead. Within KG, you see it in the way each generation learns from the last: officers who listen before they decide, alumni who encourage rather than dictate, resident members who understand that teamwork isn’t optional — it’s the essence of brotherhood and sisterhood.
And now, the younger generation of KG leaders is stepping forward with fresh eyes and full hearts. They see leadership as a responsibility to community and country — to be citizens who take initiative and make a difference. Horton once envisioned APO members becoming leaders “in the colleges of all the nations of the world,” motivated by ideals rather than ambitions. In Miagao and Iloilo, that vision isn’t just remembered — it’s lived.
At the end of the day, leadership in APO — and especially in Kappa Gamma — has always been a story of legacy. Each leader shapes the next. Each act of service inspires another. And as long as KG continues to lead with humility, strengthen friendships, and serve with purpose, the flame of leadership will keep passing on — bright, steady, and proudl.
